Odisha leading in COVID19 testing in India

The Odisha State government has ramped up the COVID-19 testing, taking the total tests to more than 50,000 per day.

On Sunday, Odisha was fourth state in the country with maximum single day tests. Odisha had conducted 50,421 tests on the given day, a release from the state government stated.

In terms of tests per million per day, Odisha was leading the country with 1,096 tests per million. The national average was 542 tests per million in the category.

Odisha testing rate is almost double the national average. The state is also ahead of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Kerala.

With the COVID19 cases continuing to rise, the state government plans to further increase the tests per day.
