Odisha, on Wednesday, urged the Centre to set up AIIMS hospital in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Currently, the state has only one AIIMS at Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy wrote a letter to the Secretary, Health and Family Welfare requesting for AIIMS at Sundargarh.
“In view of healthcare requirements of Odisha, it is proposed that a second AIIMS may be considered for Western Odisha, in the district of Sundargarh. There is readily available infrastructure available for College and hospital in Sundargarh,” the letter read.
