‘Sachetaks’ equipped with Special Kits to Identify People with COVID19 Symptoms

In order to strengthen the community level awareness, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited Municipal Corporation distributed special COVID-19 kits to the COVID Sachetak Committees. The kit consists of thermal scanners and pulse oximeter besides gloves, sanitizers and mask.

Around 120 peer leaders and Sachetak committee members were earlier trained in a one-day program organised by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. After training, the peer leaders started door-to-door awareness creation on COVID-19. They also assisted the COVID Sachetak Committee members in identifying vulnerable people, doing thermal scanning of suspects on a daily basis.

A total of over 6,000 household visits have been undertaken since July so far and around twenty thousand people have been interacted with on the issue.

The distribution of special kits will aid the peer leaders to further identify people living in slums and non-slum areas with symptoms at community-level and bring it to the notice of the civic body, said BSCL Chief Executive Officer Prem Chandra Chaudhary.
