Bihar 2020 Polls: Voting for Phase 1 Underway
The voting for the first phase of the Bihar 2020 polls is currently underway. The voter turn-out till 11:30am was recorded at 18.3 per cent.
This is the first major election to be held amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Some highlights of the 1st phase of the Bihar 2020 polls –
- Voting underway for 71 seats out of 243 seats
- Candidates – RJD – 42 candidates, JDU – 35, BJP-29, Congress – 21
- The Election Commission of India has provided with strict COVID19 guidelines to be followed while voting.
- Each polling booth to have 1,000 voters (earlier 1,600)
- Electronic Voting Machines to be sanitised.
Even as the voting process is underway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed election rally in Darbhanga.
