After two days of sealing the borders of Hathras village in Uttar Pradesh, the village was finally opened up on Saturday. There was massive outrage for the last two days as opposition and media were not allowed to enter the village.
The family were allegedly locked up. Their phones were allegedly confiscated by the administration, a claim which the police has denied so far.
The Hathras rape of a Dalit woman by four upper caste men had shook the nation. The incident has also raised questions on the investigation of the UP police. The Police allegedly cremated the body of the woman allegedly without permission of the parents.
Meanwhile, the family members have now accused that the SIT formed by CM Yogi Adityanath is hand in glove with the accused. They have sought a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry instead.
Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, who were stopped and allegedly heckled while trying to enter Hathras on October 1,are likely to visit the village today.
Last evening, Hathras SP and three other cops were suspended.
In Delhi, thousands of people had gathered at the Jantar Mantar seeking justice for the Dalit woman.
