4 States file Review Petition seeking CM’s Photo on Government Ads

At least four states – Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have filed review petitions in the Supreme Court, challenging its earlier verdict, which banned the photos of Chief Ministers and Ministers in government advertisements and allowed only President, PM and Chief Justice of India’s photos.

The states have sought a review of that verdict and argued that Chief Minister’s photo should be published on the Ads to spread the right message among the common people about the government’s schemes, policies and accomplishments.

The Supreme Court has accepted the petition and fixed the next date for hearing on October 13.
