Anandiben Patel resigns as Gujarat Chief Minister

Gujarat’s first woman Chief Minister Anandiben Patel submitted her resignation letter to Governor of Gujarat Om Prakash Kohli on Monday.

In the letter, she has stated that she desires to step down as Chief Minister when she turns age of 75 on November 21.

“It was time for the next generation to take care of the upcoming state Assembly polls in 2017 and the Vibrant Gujarat Summit”, she added.

Patel’s offer to resign comes at a time when the BJP-led Gujarat government is reeling under unrest from Dalits.
