BCPL to boost industry and generate employment in North east: Ananth Kumar

The Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizer Sh. Ananth Kumar on Friday said that the Brahamputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BPCL) at Lepetkata near Dibrugarh, Assam will give a huge boost to the Plastics Industry and generation of massive employment to the tune of one lakh in North-East Region.

He was speaking at the ceremony in Dibrugarh where the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the BCPL plant to the nation. He said that the plant which has a capacity of producing 3 lakh tons of polymers per annum, will attract huge investments in of setting up of downstream industries.

Shri Ananth Kumar said the BVFCL plant will be revived in the next 3 years and, it will produce 8 lakh metric tons of Urea, fulfilling the requirements of the North-East Region. To meet the human resource requirements for the polymer industries, Shri Ananth Kumar said that the capacity of Guwahati, CIPET has been increased to 5 thousand per annum. The Minister announced that the campus of NIPER, Guwahati will be setup in next 3 years.

He expressed the hope that the initiative of the Government of India under the dynamic leadership of Shri Narendra Modiji will provide an enabling Eco-System for setting up new plastics industry in Assam.
