Budget Session of the Parliament to commence on Feb 23

The much-awaited budget session of the Parliament will begin on Feb 23 with President Pranab Mukherjee’s address. The session will have two parts – first half of the Session will continue from Feb 23 to Mar 16, while the second half will be held from April 25 to May 13.

The Union Railway Budget will be presented on February 25, while the Economic Survey will be produced on February 26. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the Union Budget on February 29.

It is expected that GST Bill will be passed in this session with the help of the Congress and other parties. But, the opposition parties may raise hue and cry over the issue of Rohit Vemula suicide and many other issues such as Indo-Pak dialogue, cross-border terrorism and police action on protesting students in Delhi etc.
