Central GST & Integrated GST law cleared in GST Council today

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council meet, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at its eleventh meet on Saturday, finally cleared crucial Central GST and Integrated GST laws.

Arun Jaitley told States that all 26 points related to pan-India taxation raised by them have been accepted by the Centre.

The Council has agreed to empower State Tax Officers on par with their central counterparts and also accepted cross empowerment of States.

The further meeting will be held on March 16 to take up pending issues. The draft compensation bill has already been approved in the Council’s February 18 meeting.

The government is keen to roll out the new regime from 1 July.
