EC issues Show Cause Notice to Lalu Yadav over Casteist Remarks

The Election Commission on Thursday, has issued a show cause notice to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct. The EC found Lalu prima facie guilty of making casteist remarks in the run up to Bihar Assembly Polls.

The EC asks Lalu Yadav to explain his stand on or before 3 PM of October 6, 2015, failing which a decision will be taken against him without further reference.

An FIR was lodged against Lalu Yadav for provoking the backward caste people against the upper caste during election rallies. He called the Bihar Assembly Polls a direct fight between backward castes and forward castes. He asked the Yadavs to rally behind the Grand Alliance to defeat BJP-led NDA.
