EC refuses to ban PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ during Bihar Polls

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has refused to ban Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme during the assembly polls in Bihar, but said there should not be any mention of Bihar elections in the programme.

Partners of Grand Alliance, JD(U), RJD and Congress had moved the Election Commission, seeking a ban on the radio programme. They argued that PM Modi may try to influence the voters through ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

The Congress had sought a similar ban on ‘Mann Ki Baat’ during the assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana, but the EC had refused to oblige.
