Former Rajasthan MLA dies while fasting for Liquor BanJaipur, Nov 4: Former Janata Dal MLA and Gandhian leader Gurucharan Chabbra passed away on Tuesday at the age of 65. He was on fast unto death demanding ban on liquor and strengthening of Lokayukta in Rajastan.

He breathed his last at SMS Hospital here at 4:30 am on Tuesday, where was remain in coma for two days. His family members have donated his body to the hospital.

Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Geholot expressing his condolences over the death of Chabbra alleged the Vasundhara Raje government of not paying attention towards the protest. In a statement, Gehlot said “Had the government persuaded him to end his fast, Chabbra might have been saved”.

Expressing his condolences over the demise of Chabbra, PCC President Sachin Pilo alleged the state government of neglecting the stir which led to his death. Pilot said, he was on stir from October 2 and the Rajasthan government did not take any measure to break his fast unto death protest. Rajasthan Health Minister, Rajendra Rathore visited the hospital and paid tributes to the leader.
