FTII Agitation: Students asked to end Strike or face Rustication

FTIIThe ongoing unrest at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), has taken an interesting turn, as the administration toughens its stand and issued a notice to the students to call off their strike with immediate effect or face rustication from the institution. The students have been protesting against the appointment of Actor-turned-Politician Gajendra Chuhan as the FTII Chairman. They have been on an indefinite strike since June 12.

The government spends Rs 40 crore per annum on FTII with each student getting Rs 13 lakh. Many students have failed to complete their projects on time. Many students take six years to complete the three-year course. There have been 40 strikes at the FTII in its 55-year history.
