Gurgaon lawyer booked as Nepali help hangs himself

Gurgaon, Jan 18: A Supreme Court lawyer based in Gurgaon was booked on a charge of abetment to suicide after his neighbour’s domestic help took his own life, police said on Monday.

Keshav, 21, a Nepali domestic help at complainant Deepak Malhotra’s house in upscale DLF-1 area here, allegedly committed suicide by hanging after he was allegedly thrashed by the lawyer.

A Delhi businessman, Malhotra said to police in his complaint that Keshav broke a plant pot outside the lawyer’s house while reversing a car on Sunday evening.

“Disturbed over his thrashing in public, he went to his room and took the extreme step,” Malhotra said.

Several people from Nepal kept the body at the main gate of the lawyer’s house and demanding his arrest. A post-mortem examination on the body was scheduled for Monday.

“The accused, Mr Khair (as named in the FIR), was not available when police visited his house for his statement and further investigation. We have booked him under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code,” a DLF-1 police station officer told.  (IANS)
