India hoists Tallest Tricolour at Attari, Pak fears espionage

National Flag at AttariIndia on Sunday hoisted the tallest tricolour at the Attari border near Amritsar, Punjab. The 360-foot tall flag is high enough to be spotted from Lahore in Pakistan. However, the neighbouring country is suspecting India may use this flag pole for spying purpose across the border.

The flag measuring 120 feet in length, 80 feet in breadth is hoisted on a pole which is 360 feet high. The concrete base is 30 feet in length and 30 feet in breadth. The pole is said to be visible from a long distance.

Talking to the media persons, Anil Joshi, a Minister in the Punjab government said, “Earlier there was a plan to hoist the tricolour on January 26 but due to some technical reason it was delayed. The flag will be an attraction for the tourists who visit the Attari border to watch the Beating Retreat Ceremony during the sunset”.

The estimated cost of the project was around Rs 3.6 crore.
