India signs Financing Agreement with World Bank for Tejaswini Project

India - World BankIndia and World Bank has signed a financing agreement for International Development Association (IDA) credit of US$ 63 million (equivalent) for the “Tejaswini” Socio-Economic Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women Project.

The Financing Agreement was signed by Mr. Raj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India and Mr. Junaid Kamal Ahmad, Country Director, World Bank (India) on behalf of the World Bank.

The main aim of the project is to empower the adolescent girls with basic life skills. Training will be given to acquire more knowledge to develop their skills.

The project has three main components which includes Expanding of social, educational and economic opportunities, Intensive service delivery and State capacity-building and implementation support.

As many as 680,000 adolescent girls and young women are expected to be benefitted by this project.  The Project will be delivered in 17 districts of Jharkhand.
