Manohar Parrikar to inaugurate “Bharat Parv” at India Gate today

Defence Minister, ParrikarDefence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the “Bharat Parv” this evening at India Gate in New Delhi. Minister for Information and Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu will preside over the function in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma.

The week-long Festival of India is a part of the Independence Day celebrations. The tagline of the event will be ‘Paidal Dekho Hindustan’ (See India on Foot).

The Festival would be open for general public from Saturday. The timings of the festival are from 1400 hrs to 2100 hrs and the entry will be free. However, identity proof is to be carried for entry.

There will be 17 theme state pavilions, where each state would showcase its progress and achievements. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is setting up a photo exhibition titled ‘Azadi sattar (70) saal- Yaad Karo Qurbani’ on the celebration of the 70th Independence Day.

Apart from this, there will be a vibrant spectacle of performances by the Armed Forces band, tribal dances and music as well as performances by cultural troupes from states and Union Territories across the Nation. Among major attractions of the event will also be the Food Court comprising 50 stalls from the country.

Tourism secretary Vinod Zutshi said the prime objective of the festival is to inculcate and celebrate patriotic mood among people across the nation, besides ensuring wider participation by them.
