Netaji Subhas Bose’s Close Aide Col Nizamuddin dies at 116

Colonel Nizamuddin, Driver and close aide Of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose & Member of Indian National Army (INA), passed away yesterday at his residence in village Dhakwa (Azamgarh) at the age of 116.

Nizamuddin was the same man, who  took three bullets to save Netaji in the dense forests of Burma (now Myanmar) during the fight with British. Nizamuddin is survived by his wife Ajbul Nisha, three sons and two daughters.

PM Modi has condoled Nizamuddin’s sad demise. “Tributes to Subhas Babu’s close associate, Colonel Nizamuddin. I recall my meeting with him. His demise is saddening”, he tweeted.

“We will always remember the idealism, courage & patriotism of Colonel Nizamuddin, which added strength to our freedom struggle,” he added.

Unfortunately, Colonel Nizamuddin never got his due and recognition he deserved. He did not even receive any award from the government.
