Pannerselvam resigns, VK Sasikala to be new Tamil Nadu CM

In a major bloodless consensual coup, late Jayalalithaa’s close aide VK Sasikala alias Chinnamna took over the baton of AIADMK and to be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala has been elected Legislative Party leader at the AIADMK meeting at Poes Garden. It was O Pannerselvam, who proposed Hernandez and resigned as the CM.

Sasikala was appointed the General Secretary of AIADMK on December 29. It was clear that she would lead the party after the demise of Jayalalithaa.

Meanwhile, DMK leader MK Stalin slammed the move earlier in the day, saying people of Tamil Nadu did not vote for Sasikala.
