PM Modi announces Declassification of Netaji Files from January 23, 2016

Modi-Netaji-FilesThe process of declassification of files relating to Netaji will begin on 23rd January 2016, Subhash Chandra Bose’s Birth Anniversary, confirms PM Modi after meeting 35 members of Netaji’s extended family.

India will also request other governments to declassify the files, starting with Russia during PM’s visit in December. “There is no need to strangle History,” says PM.

At least 35 members of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s extended family, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7 RCR in New Delhi today. Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh were also present in the meeting. While Rajnath Singh will look into the files exist in India, Sushma will take up the issue with governments at other countries.

Netaji’s family presented a gift to PM Modi, a designer jacket with the silhouette of Netaji’s profile printed on it.

They demanded the declassification of all Netaji filed held with the Centre as well as those with the governments of Russia, Japan, China, America, UK, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Modi-Netaji-FilesAlthough West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had declassified 64 files related to Netaji last month, they were not sufficient to shed lights on Netaji’s mysterious disappearance in 1945.

On August 22, 1945, Tokyo Radio announced the ‘death’ of Netaji in an air crash in Formosa (now Taiwan) on August 18, 1945, en route to Japan. However, other revelations and subsequent claims as well as the declassification of secret files by West Bengal government, confirmed beyond doubt that Netaji did not die in any plane crash in 1945 and he was alive till the 1960s. Even, some evidences emerged that Nehru government had snooped on Netaji’s kin for years.
