PM Modi gifts replica of Cheraman Juma Masjid to Saudi King

PM Modi gifts King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud a gold-plated replica of Cheraman Juma Masjid, built in 629 AD by Arabian traders in Thrissur, Kerala.

Cheraman Perumal was a Chera King, who had gone to Arabia and converted into Islam after meeting Holy Prophet at Mecca.

“Cheraman Juma Masjid is symbolic of active trade relations between India and Saudi Arabia since ancient times”, tweets Modi.
