PM Modi launches ‘Stand up India’, distributes e-Rickshaws

Modi-Stand-Up-India1While paying tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Stand up India’ scheme on his birth anniversary.

The scheme seeks to promote entrepreneurship among the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and women, by facilitating loans in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 100 lakh.

“As Agriculture Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram did a lot to usher the green revolution. In 1971 he was the Defence Minister. Babu Jagjivan Ram made India very proud. Today on his birth anniversary ‘Stand up India’ is being launched. Whatever one’s party is, we have to remember those who have lived for the nation,” said PM Modi.

Modi-Ola1“‘Stand up India’ aims to empower every Indian and enable them to stand on their own feet. The job seeker has to become a job creator. This scheme is going to transform the lives of people from Dalit and Tribal communities,” he said.

PM Modi also distributed 5,100 e-Rickshaws to the poor and needy people. He also held ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ with families of e-Rickshaw beneficiaries.

“When the poor of the nation script our progress journey, that is when India will develop. E-rickshaws will be given to those who do not own rickshaws. The beneficiaries of this will be the poor,” the PM said.
