PoK is an Integral part of India, says PM Modi at All-party Meet

All Party MeetingPrime Minister Narendra Modi has said there cannot be any compromise on national security on Jammu and Kashmir issue but there is a need to win confidence of people of the valley, stating that dialogue must be initiated with expatriates all over the world from that region.

While addressing an all-party meeting convened to discuss the prevailing situation in Kashmir, the Prime Minister said the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is an integral part of India.

Modi expressed happiness that all parties have spoken in one voice on the issue. “It’s a matter of happiness that all parties have spoken in one voice on J&K. I’m grateful to all political parties for raising concerns with regard to prevailing situation in J&K,” he said in the all-party meeting.

In the meeting, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured “full-cooperation” on behalf of the Congress party in any measures adopted by the government to restore peace and harmony in Kashmir valley.

Other political parties also impressed upon the government to immediately start confidence building measures to restore normalcy in valley. They also favoured to hold talks with all stakeholders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Union Ministers, Arun Jaitley , Sushma Swaraj , Congress leaders Dr. Karan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, BJD leaders Dilip Tirkey and Bhartruhari Mahtab, Samajwadi party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury , JD(U)  leader Sharad Yadav  and leaders of other major political parties were present in the meeting.

However, the opposition party in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference, did not attend the meeting.
