Just a day before the first phase polling in Bihar, PM Narendra Modi gave a big jolt to his critics as well as rival politicians, by assuring the nation that reservation for SC/ST/OBC will continue and there won’t be any review.
Addressing a public meeting in Mumbai while inaugurating Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Memorial, Modi said, “Opposition is spreading the rumours that BJP was against reservation. Whenever we come to power, they spread the lies. It happened during Vajpayee Ji’s tenure and it is happening now”.
“This rumour-mongering starts every time when elections are round the corner. We want to reassure everyone that there is no rethink or review on the reservation policy. This is something which Babasaheb Ambedkar has given us and no power can take it away,” he said.
“States with maximum dalits, OBCs and adivasis have chosen the BJP government and this is an indicator that we are the chosen one to uplift them. Unless they are given their due place in society, the country cannot progress,” the PM said.
