Sarathi Seva for Old and Disabled Train Passengers to be Expanded

Presenting Railway Budget 2016-17 in Parliament today, the Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu announced that all operational halts will be converted into commercial halts, for the convenience of passengers.

He also said that, Sarathi Seva, which was introduced in Konkan Railway to help the old and disabled passengers requiring assistance at stations, will be expanded to many more stations. The existing services for enabling passengers to book battery operated cars, porter services, etc. on a paid basis in addition to the existing pick up and drop, and wheel chair services will be strengthened.
