SDM asks Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust to return Amethi Land

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Amethi, has asked the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust to return 65 acres of land to the UP Government. The leased land, which was acquired by Samrat Bicycles in 1986 to set up a manufacturing unit in Amethi, was recently sold to Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust owned by the Congress Party.

The CAG red-flagged the sale and termed it illegal. Union HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani​ had raised the issue during her recent visit to Amethi and slammed Rahul Gandhi for maintaining a double standard on land issue.
