Shiv Sena, MNS defy Meat Ban, set up Stalls in Mumbai

Meat-Ban-MumbaiThe Shiv Sena and MNS cadres have set up stalls in Mumbai to defy the meat ban imposed by BMC during the Jain festival. Although the practice has been in place since 1964 and were implemented through three resolutions in 1964, 1994 and 2004, the issue is being deliberately played out to defame the BJP Government in Maharashtra.

When the ban was imposed during the Congress-NCP regime, nobody protested. Now, the Congress and NCP are fishing in the troubled water, saying the ban is not justified. The MNS and Shiv Sena cadres are openly selling meat, chicken and fish on the streets. Uddhav Thackeray has asked his cadres to ensure that mean ban loses its impact.

The Mutton dealers in Mumbai have moved the Bombay High Court, protesting against the ban. The issue will be taken up for hearing tomorrow. The meat ban has been imposed in Mumbai on September 10, 13, 17 and 18 during the Jain festival ‘Paryushan’.
