Status Report on Cow Slaughter in Various States of India

Cow Slaughter* Cow Slaughter banned in – Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Puducherry, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Lakshadeep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

* Cow Slaughter allowed in – Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tripura and Nagaland.

* Cow slaughter allowed in – Daman & Diu and Goa, only if they are old or sick, or for medical purposes.

* Cow slaughter allowed in – West Bengal with a ‘Fit for Slaughter’ certificate.

*** In many states (where cow slaughter is banned), Bulls and Bullocks are allowed for slaughter with ‘Fit for Slaughter’ certificate.
