Supreme Court asks Govt to link all Mobile Numbers to Aadhaar

The Apex Court on Monday directed Centre to make necessary arrangements to register details of identity of every mobile user in India within a year.

The Supreme Court said that there are over 100 crore mobile subscribers. The court made it mandatory that all the subscribers including those with pre-paid connections to have linked their phone number to Aadhaar without fail within one year.

Earlier, the Court asked Centre to apprise it within 2 weeks about steps to be taken to verify identity of around five crore mobile users in country to avoid fake identities which cause a grave risk to national security.
