The Indian Express draws Flak for July 31 Headline on Yakub

Indian-Express-YakubOne of the leading Dailies of India, The Indian Express has come under heavy criticism for his “outrageous” headline on July 31 – ‘And they hanged Yakub’. The report got half page coverage on the front page with a larger photo of Yakub’s burial. But, at the same time, it published a small report with a tiny photograph from Dr. Kalam’s burial on the front page.

The newspaper received huge backlash on Facebook and Twitter, as everyone asked what did it mean by ‘They’? Many intellectuals have advised the media to refrain from making such remarks or headlines, which would disturb peace and harmony in the country.
