“The areas of cooperation include market reforms, including regulations and incentives for renewable energy deployment, integration of renewable energy into the grid, energy efficiency policies and practice, off-shore wind and solar energy, smart grids and tidal energy, among other areas,” a cabinet communiqué said.
The MoU will provide an enabling framework for technical assistance, including in-kind grant and other support, through relevant projects initiated by the UK, the statement said.
“The focus will be the electricity market structure and the integration of renewable energy into the grid,” it added.
In a separate decision, the cabinet approved an MoU between India and Indonesia in the field of new and renewable energy. The MoU was signed in Jakarta last month during Vice President Hamid Ansari’s visit.
The areas of cooperation will focus on capacity building, exchange of scientific and technological information and data, transfer of technology on non-commercial basis, development of joint research or technical projects and encouragement and promotion of investment, among other areas, the official statement said.
