Union Home Minister visits Assam to take stock of the flood situation

Rajnath Singh 1The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh visited Assam today to take stock of the situation in the flood-affected areas. Shri Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, conducted an aerial survey of the worst hit districts of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga.

He also met the family members of those affected by the floods at the Bhagatgaon relief camp in Morigaon districts.

Later the Union Home Minister chaired a high level meeting with Shri Sonowal, Dr. Jitendra Singh and Senior Officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs and State Government to review the flood rescue and relief operations.

Shri Rajnath Singh said the situation is grim but the Chief Minister and his team are doing well in managing the situation. He said the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are working on the ground and Centre is ready to provide all possible help.

The NDRF along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Army have saved more than 6,000 lives in Assam, he added
