Voting begins for Uttarakhand Assembly Polls, Second phase of UP Polls

Voting in UPVoting is under way in 69 Assembly constituencies out of 70 seats of Uttarakhand. Polling started at 07 AM. and will continue till five in the evening. Poll officials have instructed that the voters who will be in queue till 5 PM will be permitted to cast their vote.

Elections to Karnaprayag constituency in the state were postponed following the death of BSP candidate Kuldeep Singh Kanwasi. The voting will be held on March 9 for this constituency.

In Uttar Pradesh, polling for 67 constituencies spread over 11 districts in second phase is underway. The districts where voting is taking place in this phase are Saharanpur, Bijnore, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Bareily, Amroha, Peelibhit, Lakhimpur Kheeri, Shahjahanpur and Badayun.

In Uttarakhand state assembly elections, 25 percent votes were cast while over 24 percent voter turnout has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh till 12 o’clock .

Polling is in progress in a peaceful manner in both states. Elaborate security arrangements are put in place for smooth conduct of the election. Special instructions have been given to check illegal money and liquor which may be misused to influence the voters.
