Vyapam Scam: Congress demands SC Probe, resignation of Governor

The Congress Party has held a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, protesting against the Vyapam Scam in Madhya Pradesh and sought a Supreme Court-monitored probe even as CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has recommended a CBI probe into the scam and related mysterious deaths.

Congress demands the resignation of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, who is an accused in the case. The Governor was a Congressman prior to his appointment in 2011. Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1977 to 1979 as Janata Party leader. He later joined the Congress.

On 25th February 2015, he was asked by Union Home Ministry to resign, but he did not oblige. The Madhya Pradesh High Court also quashed an FIR against him, saying he enjoys constitutional immunity. In March 2015, his son Shailesh Yadav, who was also an accused in the scam, died under mysterious circumstances.
