Cabinet approves Amendment in Triple Talaq Bill

ONI Bureau:  The Union Cabinet today approved amendment in Triple Talaq Bill. FIR can now be filed by victims and even her blood relatives.

Although the offence continues to remain non-bailable but accused can get bail through the Magistrate.

The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act passed in the Budget Session bans the practice of instant talaq, a violator would be immediately arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment post conviction.

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will brief media at 4 PM in this regard.
