Final Results @ Assembly Elections 2018

ONI Bureau: It look much longer than expected. The ECI website gave complete results for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan only this morning. Congress just fell short of a simple majority in both States, but won’t have any problem forming governments with the support of other MLAs.

In Madhya Pradesh, Congress won 114 out of 230 seats and needs two more MLAs to form Govt. They may get more as BJP is not in a mood to go for poaching. The PM has already accepted people’s verdict with humility last night. Congress will have a tougher opposition in MP, as BJP has won 109 seats.

In Rajasthan, Congress won 99 out of 199 seats and fell short of majority by just one seat. However, the party is in a position to get the support of at least 8-10 MLAs in the State. While there won’t be any hurdles in Congress returning to power in Rajasthan, it would face a stronger opposition, as BJP has won 73 seats here.

Congress has swept the elections in Chhattisagarh by winning 68 out of 90 seats. BJP managed to win just 15 seats. Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) of Ajit Jogi won 5 seats, while the BSP got 2 seats. In Telangana, TRS retained power by winning 88 out of 1119 seats. The Mizo National Front (MNF) unseated Congress in Mizoram by winning 26 out of 40 seats.

The results came as a big boost for Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who had worked hard for the party in this assembly election and proved his mettle.
