I&B Minister Rathore announces Rs 15 lakh for Family of Achyuta Nanda Sahu

ONI Bureau:  The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh to the family of DD Cameraman Achyuta Nanda Sahu who was killed in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh today.

As per report Rs 10 lakh would be given as ex gratia by Doordarshan and Rs 5 lakh would be from the Journalist Welfare Fund of the Press Information Bureau.

Besides, job for his wife & all time support to the family will be provided by the Central Government, informed the Minister.

As he was killed in Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh, he was treated as a Martyr and was given guard of honour in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh along with two CRPF jawans.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh has described the ambush as a cowardly act by Naxals.

After the incident today, at least 10 improvised explosive devices were recovered from the area and have been defused.

Worth mentioning, Achyuta Nanda Sahu hailed from Odisha’s Bolangir district. He was from the Ghusuramunda village in Loisingha.
