ISRO creates history, launches its 100th Satellite

ONI Bureau: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made history today, as it launched its 100th satellite from the port of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. It was ISRO’s 42nd mission.

The PSLV-C40 carried the weather observation ‘Cartosat-2’ series satellite and 30 co-passengers (together weighing about 613 kg).

Other 30 satellites included one micro and one nano satellite from India as well as 3 micro and 25 nano satellites from 6 countries – Canada, Finland, France, Korea, the United Kingdom and United States of America.

Total weight of all 31 satellites carried on-board PSLV-C40 is about 1,323 kg.
