Jay Panda felicitates Winners of ‘Clean Air Policy Challenge’

ONI Bureau: Results of Clean Air Policy Challenge – an Active Citizenship Initiative heralded by MP Baijayant Panda, have been announced today and the winners were felicitated by the MP himself in New Delhi today.

On his website, MP Jay Panda had urged young Indians to share their ideas and solutions to address the pressing issue of air pollution. He asked them to work in teams to devise technical and policy solutions to improve air quality in Indian cities.

A lot of entries were received out of which 3 groups were selected as Winners, 1st Runners Up and 2nd Runners Up. Young minds in the age group of 18-28 were allowed to take part in the challenge. The winning entries will be shared with the Ministry of Environment.

Winners: Vasundhara Jolly (UNDP) & Namrata Rao (UCSD Center on Gender Equality and Health)
Work: Their paper ‘Hawa Mein Kuch Kala Hai’ focused on providing short & long term solutions.

1st Runners Up: Debolina Chakraborty, Runal Shrivastava, Suman S. Chukki (BITS, Pilani)
Work: Using technology as a policy making tool such as GIS, Decentalised Biogas Plant.

2nd Runners Up: Niharika Yadav, Shashank Mattoo and Pranav Valmeekanathan (Ashoka University, New Delhi)
Work: Provided short and long-term legislative policy solution to check stuble burning and road dust.
