Jr. Foreign Minister MJ Akbar under pressure to resign due to #MeToo allegations

ONI Bureau:  MJ Akbar, a former editor and junior Foreign Minister is under pressure to resign due to #MeToo allegation surfaced against him.

At least 9 women journalists have allegedly accused Union Minister Akbar of sexual harassment when he was an Editor.

Opposition asked the former Editor to either come clean following sexual harassment charges against him or resign.

MJ Akbar, presently on a visit to Nigeria to attend celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150 birth anniversary at Indian Language School (ILS), Lagos.

The Me Too movement which spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media in an attempt to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. Now again the campaign flooded in social media when Tanushree Dutta filed FIR against Bollywood actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment what happened 10 years ago.
