ONI Bureau: Nation on Thursday paid homage to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to secure India’s frontiers in the Kargil War of 1999. A day to remember all 527 martyrs who saved our home.
On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders but that resulted in the loss of life on both the sides.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on 26 July every year, in honour of the Indian Army’s victory in the Kargil-Drass sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
