Kargil Vijay Diwas: Nation pays homage to war Martyrs

ONI Bureau:  Nation on Thursday paid homage to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to secure India’s frontiers in the Kargil War of 1999. A day to remember all 527 martyrs who saved our home.

On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders but that resulted in the loss of life on both the sides.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on 26 July every year, in honour of the Indian Army’s victory in the Kargil-Drass sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda annd Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
