L-G Anil Baijal remains out of sync with Ground Reality!

ONI Bureau: When it comes to issues of public interest, political parties more or less come on the same page as they never intend to defy people’s sentiments. But, as Delhi L-G Anil Baijal does not come from political background, but dances to the tunes of his masters, he is hell bent on stalling schemes that benefit people more.

The Delhi Government has recently taken a revolutionary step by launching the ‘Mobile Sahayak’ scheme, which would bring 40 services to the doorsteps of citizens. And, those services will be available at a nominal fee. Those services will include marriage registration, caste and income domicile, water connections, driving licenses, pension schemes, permanent IDs for disabled, land record reports, registration of construction workers etc.

While everyone hailed the initiative, L-G Anil Baijal begged to differ. He rejected the proposal and sent the file back for reconsideration, as most of these services have already been digitized, there is no need to launch such a scheme. Seriously?

The L-G is either unaware of the ground reality or heavily banking on the word ‘Digital India’. Yes, digitization is available. But, that does not come as a relief for people who run around the offices or stand in queues to get things done. And, what’s the harm to deliver the services at people’s doorsteps who hardly find time to travel long distance or multiple times?

It’s all about people’s convenience, Mr. Baijal! Let the people decide what they want. If public supports a scheme and want to be part of it, don’t play the role of a villain. It may not hurt u, but it will go against your political bosses who repose trust in you. Don’t let them down, at least…
