Maoists attack DD Crew in Chhattisgarh; Odia Cameraman, 2 Cops Killed

ONI Bureau: The blood-thirsty Maoists struck in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, as they attacked the Doordarshan crew near Aranpur village in Dantewada district. DD Cameraman Achyuta Nanda Sahu and two policemen were killed in the brutal attack.

The DD team had gone to Chhattisgarh to cover the elections when they came under attack from the Maoists. Achyuta Nanda Sahu who had been working with Doordarshan since 2013, hailed from Odisha’s Bolangir district. He was from the Ghusuramunda village in Loisingha.

Sahu, who was earlier working with the Indian Army, had taken VRS and then studied further before joining the Doordarshan. He had married just two years ago.

It is not yet clear whether the Maoists had laid ambush for the security personnel, or deliberately targeted the Doordarshan team. Assembly polls are due in Chhattisgarh on November 12 and 20.

Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has strongly condemned the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh and expressed grief over the death of DD Cameraman and two Jawans.
