More Power to Girl Children who saved us from Embarrassment

Sindhu-SilverWe have been talking how we need to save the Girl Child with various awareness campaigns, including ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ etc. Yes, it hurts that a nation of 1.25 billion with rich culture and heritage as well as tradition, failed the girls and women in the country. But, Rio 2016, the biggest Sports Extravaganza of the World has forced us to bow our heads and completely surrender before the women power.

Who are we to save the Girl Children? Do we really have the right to put their lives in danger and then talk about saving them. At Rio 2016, two young girls saved the country of 125 crore from humiliation and embarrassment and shook the conscience of male-dominated society. Yes, it’s now proved beyond doubt that Indian women are mentally as well as physically stronger than men. They are no longer the weaker sex.

Sakshi Malik (Wrestling) and PV Sindhu (Badminton) and won Bronze and Silver respectively. At the same time, Gymnast Dipa Karmakar made the country proud with her performance and narrowly missed the Bronze while finishing 4th. Are we ashamed yet. We are neither the protectors nor the custodians of our Girls. They have the power to protect themselves, prove their mettle and save us when the time comes. What they need from us – just respect and right to live with dignity…
