PM Modi hoists Tricolor on 75th Anniversary of Azad Hind Govt

ONI Bureau: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the commemoration of 75th Anniversary of formation of Azad Hind Government by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recalled the contributions of the Azad Hind Fauj warriors in India’s freedom struggle.

The PM hoists the Tricolour at the Red Fort and addressed a gathering. “Inspired by the ideals of Netaji, 130 crore Indians are marching ahead to realise the dream of a New India,” he said.

Azad Hind Government was formed by Netaji on 21st October, 1943. This is the first time the Indian Tricolor was hoisted at the Red Fort to mark the anniversary of Azad Hind Government.

“Members of the Azad Hind Fauj fought valiantly for India’s freedom. We will always be grateful to them for their courage. Today, I had the honour of meeting Lalti Ram Ji, an INA veteran. It was wonderful spending time with him,” tweeted PM Modi.

Highlights of PM Modi’s Speech:

“By setting up the Azad Hind Fauj and the Azad Hind Government, Netaji Subhas Bose showed his deep commitment towards a free India. This spirit of nationalism was a part of him from his young days, as shown in a letter he wrote to his mother”.

“Subhas Babu always took pride in India’s history and our rich values. He taught us that not everything must be seen from a non-Indian prism.”

“All over the world, people took inspiration from Netaji Subhas Bose in their fights against colonialism and inequality. We remain committed to fulfilling Netaji’s ideals and building an India he would be proud of”.

“It is unfair that in the glorification of one family, the contribution of several other greats was deliberately forgotten. It is high time more Indians know about the historic role of stalwarts Sardar Patel, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Netaji Subhas Bose.”
