PM Modi inaugurates 105th Indian Science Congress in Manipur

ONI Bureau:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the 105th session of the Indian Science Congress at Manipur University.  He was welcomed by the Chief Minister of Manipur N.Biren Singh and Governor Najma Heptulla at Imphal Airport.

Delivering the inaugural address at the 105th session of the Indian Science Congress, Modi said, “We have set a target of 100 GW of installed solar power by 2022. Efficiency of solar modules currently available in the market is around 17%-18%. Can our scientists take a challenge to come up with a more efficient solar module, which can be produced in India at the same cost”.

Government of India has sanctioned ten India Reserve Battalions for North Eastern States which include two battalions for Manipur. These two battalions will directly provide job opportunities to about 2,000 youth in the State, the PM stated. He also requested scientists to give 100 hours every year to 100 students to fuel scientific temperament amongt the youth.

Prime Minister also laid foundation stones of different projects including National Sports University, 1000 Anganwadi Centres,19 residential complexes for teachers, doctors and nurses, and other development projects. He also inaugurated the Luwangpokpa Multi Sports Complex, Rani Gaidinliu Park, and other development projects.

Top scientists from across the country and the world attended the event.
