Sabarimala Entry Row: Police beat up Protesters; Journalists injured

ONI Bureau:  Police used lathis after protesters resort to stone pelting and opposed to the entry of women in the 10-50 age group to the Sabarimala temple in Kerala having the deity of Lord Ayyappa.

Three female journalists, working for Republic TV,  Aaj Tak and India Today were attacked by the protesters for covering the stand-off in the temple on Wednesday.

Reportedly, several woman devotees have returned mid-day from their journey to Sabarimala Temple after facing protests despite police assurances that no one will be prevented from taking part in the pilgrimage.

Activists belonging to the BJP, Congress, and Hindu groups are protesting the Supreme Court verdict.

Over 50 people including former Travancore Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan taken into custody in Nilakkal and Pamba for protesting against entry of women in age group 10 to 50 to Sabarimala temple in Kerala.
