Odisha Assembly approves 33% Reservation for Women in the House

ONI Bureau:  Odisha Assembly on Tuesday approved resolution by unanimous voice vote for providing 33% reservation for Women in the House. Patnaik termed the motion as “historic”.

Earlier on Tuesday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik brought resolution seeking one-third reservation for women in State Legislature.

As per report, the Chief Minister moved a resolution in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today for providing 33% reservation for women in Legislative Assemblies and the Parliament.

The resolution brought to propose Central Government to make provisions for such reservation. Naveen appealed the members of the State Legislative Assembly to extend their support.

Once Biju Babu (Biju Patnaik) said, “I am confident that the mothers and sisters who run their household so efficiently will run the Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad with equal competence” said Naveen Patnaik.
