10 dead as Bus falls off Mahanadi Bridge in Cuttack

ONI Bureau:  At least 10 people were killed and several reportedly injured as a private bus fell off Mahanadi bridge on the outskirts of Cuttack this evening. They included 7 men and 3 women.

According to reports, ‘Jagannath’, the ill-fated bus was on the way to Cuttack from Talcher when it was reportedly running over a buffalo.

As many as 42 passengers have been rushed SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. They will get free treatment as announced by the State Govt.

ODRAF, Fire Tenders, Cops, Volunteers pressed into service to rescue the injured.

Expressing deep concern, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Sports and Youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera to rush to the spot and take stock of the situation as Health Minister Pratap Jena is in Delhi. The CM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
